Mary - I think you're right about Jackmanii. It blooms off new growth, I think; so it's a good idea to cut it back in the fall. I don't always do that though. Here's a pic of mine LAST year. As I said, this year half of it died back. I have another Clematis, name unkown, at the front of the house which is doing much better now that I've removed some trees, but there were TWO planted together and only one survives.

Kooger - good news about the knee. Hope you are able to work out both moving DD and getting to the visitation.

Kelly - nice to hear from you. Are you talking about the earlier dental problem or did you have another one? I hope it doesn't recur.

Maria - yes, tragic happenings in Montréal yesterday. Apparently the gunman had a web site blog which was really disturbing. This is a good site for further info - http://www.cbc.ca/ It looks as though two of the other people shot might not make it. But police say they've learned from similar happenings in the past. At another masacre in Montreal 17 years ago and at Columbine and others, they tended to surround the site, but not enter it. Nowdays they enter right away to confront people like this and "neutralize" them. Probably reduced the carnage. I guess there are a lot of disturbed people in this world.

Better get cracking on lunch. Have to pick up the twins for Kindermusik in a bit more than an hour, stop by the church to check bell set-up, and pick up my orchestra music. Will take bell music along to Kindermusik as I will have to rethink assignments with the loss of the new ringer and a newbie coming in.
