meezersfive wrote: Well, I'll be switched!! Had a long post all written and it blew off into the cybersphere and now I have to dig through my brain to remember what I was babbling about. Sheesh, I really hate that!! By the way, thanks for continuing to set up our new day, Elaine, into September. It's not too bad once you get used to it, but some of us had a slow learning curve....like me! Scooter, no, we are west on National, wish we were east, there's lots more room thataway. Still regret that we built in a subdivision, esp, DH, who would liked to have put up a pole barn for the Mustangs and Rancheros. Molly, the orchid was beautiful. What a great idea to put that addition on, can you believe where you are now compared to last year?? Some things just work out so well that you wonder how it all fell together. Except you have vivid memories of the paperwork and hard labor!! Jeremy's GF has four kids? Wow! Does he like kids? Most guys would hit the road at full speed. And she brought food! That's a good sign, knowing how much kids eat, (and waste) she was very thoughtful. Darius, I just bought new jars, and I was disappointed at the box and the shrink wrap too. I've saved all my old ones, even though they are pretty beat up at least they have the dividers and can be closed up. Some of them have to be 40 years old. Or more. Tell Pati we are thinking of her and sending well wishes for a speedy recovery. Maria, the soda bread is excellent but I had to freeze half, we can only eat so much in a day. My maternal GM used to make Swedish Limpa bread, but I never got her recipe. She always made our favorites when we came to visit, Kropkokkor which is little potato dumplings with a filling of salt pork, onion and allspice, or salt cured cod in a white sauce with boiled potatos. She drank her coffee by cooling it in the saucer, and sipping it through a sugar cube. I would like to make some rye bread but I don't like working with that sticky rye flour. Bonnie, I hope you are feeling better today. Ten check books!! Yikes, that would have me frazzled for sure. I do most of my banking on line, which my bank provides free. Figure I've saved about $25 on postage since I started using their bill pay function. I don't write many checks anymore since I use the debit card a lot. Kooger, did you get all of your to-do list done? It rained here all day so I didn't get out at all. Didn't labor either....like so many of you did. We were going to go out to the Olive Garden for dinner but when we got there they said it was a 40 minute wait so we bailed and went to the pie place. DH had a french dip and I had soup and salad and a slice of raspberry pie. Brought the pie home, halved it and heated it up so a scoop of ice cream would melt nicely on it. Dorothy, the sculpture is actually the top of a fountain. The base was made out of some weird composite and it didn't weather well. Started leaning heavily to one side as it softened, so we just use the top. If we had continued to use it as a fountain it would have rust streaks all over it from our iron laden water. And there's no weeds because that's part of the area we dug up to get rid of the field horsetail, which I am sure is still lurking underneath. The landscape fabric is doing a good job. Glad to hear the kitties are getting along. It just takes time. And unfortunately, sometimes they never adjust. Kittens seem to fit in more easily than adults. And your bread looks picture perfect, Could I have a slice for toast?? DH is home on vacation again, yesterday he repainted the pedal car tractor and it looks pretty spiffy. ~~~ to laurie, twyla, Susan, Somer, lisa, robert, IO1, Mary, and anyone I may have over looked. Sympathy for those who have to go back to work today, I'm making a run for more peaches (after double checking their supply) but don't have any major chores hanging over me. Maybe squeeze in a couple more episodes of the Closer.......and run the Dyson. And I'm copying this in case the post eater consumes it. Later.... Sheila |
