The Corps has moved on to New Orleans where they plan to demolish about 24 very large live oaks. They are not on a levee or on the berm. People have been calling me because I am chairman of the Live Oak Society and I feel so awful when I have to say "there is nothing that can be done to save them." Perhaps tomorrow I will have the heart to take a photo. This is one I took recently. Can you imagine the size of the roots of these trees? |
