I just changed the way I did little things, like didn't clean up every little thing in the fall...left some things lie around for the critters to use as a refuge in the winter. I've been planting things this year that both the birds/butterflies and us will enjoy. We have hummers that visit and right now they can't even get to the feeder because it's hung to near our eaves...I keep forgetting to move it. I better do that tonight. They hang out here just for the flowers, which amazes me. Our front porch is covered w/ Petunias, Lantana, Hibiscus, Verbena and Fuschias. I'm trying to bring them all up to eye level so we can sit and watch them. I had one hummer buzz so close to my ear the other day I thought he was going to pierce it, scared the beJesus out of me!! There's been so much rain that I haven't really gotten to enjoy the butterflies yet. We do have lots of Eastern Tiger Swallowtails around though. I have a banana in the freezer just waiting for a nice hot, sunny day....someday I'll get to try it. I'll take pics and share when I get to.
