Back to the topic!

When My grandmother ZZ (yep, Zenith Zuela) died who lived in Illionois, My father and I roadtripped out to her funeral. In her prime (in the 50s and 60s to be honest), she had an extremely well-kept garden full of bulbs and such. One year, as my father recalls, a blue tulip appeared in her garden. No kidding, blue. Being that she lived on a street loaded with university Professors, (who were the ones who noticed, no doubt. A Uni town) they came over and studied the silly thing that year, but it never appeared again.

After her funeral, I went to her back yard to bring home some heirlooms from the now dilapidated house with overgrown yard. There were layers and layers of old Lycoris squamigera bulbs, a few lilies, and some ferns. Too much shade kept he lilies from blooming, so my first peak at the very mixed lot of them was last year.

Here is the most floriferous and division-happy plant. I just saw a picture of "Hit Parade" and was sure that was it. Perhaps so, but 'Hit Parade' is a recent lily. (she could have planted it recently. ) It fades rapidly, but is showy nonetheless. Still an "Heirloom." It grows in what I call "Zip's Garden."
