When I bought this house a couple of years ago I planted duranta and orange trumpet vines - they have been blooming for quite some time now and the hummies frequent them daily. Also put in a hedge of fire bush (hamelia patens) back then on each side of my driveway. I see hummies zipping back and forth across my driveway between the two hedges when I'm out in the front yard. Monarda is a favorite as well so I have a few of them that have yet to bloom. Other than that...I have a variety of Salvias, Hibiscus, Pentas, Mexican Flame Vine, Lantana, Ruellia and citrus trees blooming. Still waiting for the Red Hot Poker and Butterfly Bushes to bloom. It's just so hot...seedlings quickly wilt out here. Will be adding more when the Fall season rolls around. ~ Cat |
