None were prescribed...I've been doing this for about 25 years..I knew what to do,but last time I had the vet out he used terramycin powder and dumped it all in a gallon water jug and I gave him 1 1/2 to 2 cups a day...that's what I was wondering and TamaraFaye was right on the money...
He usually gets it between spring and late summer almost every year...I think feeding to much alfalfa doesn't help..I now have him out in the pasture...I just hate giving him shots...he's an appaloosa...who has grayed out and lost his huge black spots,he is registered as a leopard..he's about 15.3 hands and is 15 years old... I don't ride any more,he was bought by my Mom when his owner disappeared, one of her best friends anyway they have never found his body..Mom bought 3 of his horses to remember him by...he's only green broke,he was left a stud for 7 years so he has a pretty heavy neck, probably some draft in his background too..and I've only riden him a few times, and none in the last 5 years,he's sort of my pasture ornament..Mom gave him to me several years ago,she still hasn't moved up here so her two horses are still down there with her..she's building up here this summer...I've been up here alone for about 4 years now,it will be nice to have her back on the same land as I am..lol..
I just got my results back and they really don't see anything but a dromadary hump on the right kidney and a small stone on the left, they started me on an antibotic and I still see the specialist on the 30th...thanks for asking about both of us...Here's a photo I took a few minutes ago while I was roaming taking photo's on my roses...oh I borrowed this mule to keep him company until Mom's horses are moved up here...you can still see the black spots on his hind leg...:-) he was covered with them before he grayed out...bummer...
