Citrine wrote: If anyone who knows about citrus, please help me with my little tree :) This is a dwarf citrus tree that is about 8 years old and has been somewhat happily living in my yard for about 5 years. Up until last year, it had been crowded by some "heavenly bamboo" that were removed last year. Two years ago, it started producing flowers, but as of yet, does not fruit. It's either a dwarf orange or tangerine, but I forget which. Someone told me that it might need a mate to cross polinate with, so I would need to find it a partner of the opposite gender to get fruit. Does anyone know about this and if that would help? If, in fact, it does need a hot date with another tree, is there a good way to tell which gender it is and what exact tree it is? Could it be possible to cross polinate without having to squeeze another tree in the yard, say, by getting some frowers from another plant of the species? I'm very sorry if this seems silly, but I want to learn and help this tree be as happy as possible. A couple pictures of the tree in question are attached. |
