BabsERNurse wrote: Well, howdy-doooo everyone! I'm staying home today and attacking the laundry monster. Let's hope I at least get a good whack at him if not have him slayed completely. I was at Mum's most of yesterday putting down the Turf Builder with Weed and Feed, weeding out her planters alongside the front deck and potting up some geraniums for her deck as well as planting some seed for larkspur, lupine and canterbury bells. Mum does so love her flowers and I try to give her something to look at while she sits out on her deck. She was on the deck yesterday pointing out where I'd missed some wayward grass that has sneaked into her planter. Hmmmm, makes me wonder how "legally blind" she really is....LOL. I planted her half barrel as well and put some very pretty and colourful flowers in there as well. She had some miniature iris coming up so I cut those and made a small bouquet in a vase to put next to her arm chair where she could see them. I'm noticing, if whatever is out of her visual field, she forgets it's around and forgets to water or tend them. I got her a miniature rose to put in a planter she has in the living room and I noticed it was dead y'day. But, then I reasoned, well, it's out of her visual field when she's sitting in her electric recliner so she forgets to water it. I'd asked the Comfort Keepers to water her indoor plants, but I guess this one got left out. DH and I went to Home Depot yesterday after he came home from work and bought the new cabinet, sink top, linen cabinet and medicine cabinet that will go into the bathroom. He's to the point of needing these things in place so he can finish the wainscoting and chair rail. Where those things go, he has to cut out the wainscoting and chair rail between each piece so they fit tightly against the wall. Ohhhhh, boy, we're getting closer to having our second bathroom back and I'll be VERY happy. No more doing the pee pee dance in the hallway waiting for the other person to GET OFF THE POT! LOL I wish to thank those of you who mentioned my new great niece in their posts. You have to know this precious child stole my heart even before my niece married her father. She has been a loving child since I met her at age 5 when her father and my niece started dating. After they married when she was 7 we all made sure she was always invited to any family gathering. She was able to attend some when she was still with her mother, but only upon occasion and only for an abbreviated visit. DH and I always made sure even if she couldn't attend, we sent her a gift or called her on the phone to talk with her to assure her we would all miss her at the gathering. She spent Christmas with us the first time when she was 8. DH and I gave her a pair of garnet studs earrings. She was just thrilled with them and ever since we've given her something she can add to her jewelry box. I had her on my lap that first Christmas and whispered in her ear, "Any time a man asks you what you want for your birthday, anniversary, Christmas....you answer, Jewelry is always nice." She's such a dear child and now every time she sees me, she hugs me around the neck, kisses me on the cheek and whispers, "Jewelry is always nice Great Auntie Babs!" LOL Well, I'd best be answering the dryer buzzer and getting the clothes folded and put away. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and enjoys at least 10 minutes of peace and quiet today. It's essential to ones ability to cope for a few minutes of sanity each day. For those facing adversity or challenge, I send my wishes for strength and energy to face whatever is coming your way. Many blessings on all. With care, ~Babs P.S. Here's a photo of a bumblebee coming in for a landing on the Rhodie outside the front door of our house strictly for your enjoyment. |
