ViolaAnn wrote: Happy Easter everyone. It's a glorious day here in Canada's national capital. My crocuses have lasted through today, but many will be spent by tomorrow. I have my first early tulips blooming right in the middle of the crocuses. Don't know why, but this bunch keeps coming back year after year while most die out after a couple of years. And on the east side of my house, I will have a daffodil in a day or so. On the Canadian forum, Todd Boland has posted pics of small crocuses and I put a more recent pic of the swath of crocuses in front of my house if anyone wants to take a look. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/591339/ My new crocuses in my new garden are little ones like Todd is showing; so I think I will dig them out and group them in one spot. They really need to be massed for effect. My big sassy ones will overwhelm them if they get mixed up. Red River Cereal is a cooked cereal, and IS put out by a Canadian company. Contains cracked wheat, cracked rye and flax - both cracked and whole. To use it in bread, I pour boiling water over it and let it sit for awhile. Actually, since the brown rice has to be cooked too, I prepare both the rice and the Red River cereal ahead, divide into 6 portions and freeze for 6 batches of bread. BTW, I use short grain brown rice. And I subscribe to the pound the H*** out of it theory. I reckon kneading bread kept me from beating my kids years ago. DH is out washing my car an applying wax. My job to polish it off as it might be a bit much for him yet. DH has toy cars - a 1965 Porsche 356C cabriolet that he bought NEW; so it is in mostly original condition though it needs a new soft top and a 1955 Cadillac Coup de Ville that belonged to his aunt's inlaws in Portland, OR. When they died, his aunt got it to DH's parents in Alberta and it's been here for about 20 years. It's a great car to tour the attractions if you want people to look at you. He occasionally drives neighbourhood girls or friends to their weddings. Anyway, in the winter, he stores the Porsche on top of the Cadillace, thus making our two-car garage into a THREE car garage. He plans to get the Porsche down tomorrow; so my car will have to sit out and get crapped on by birds. Thus a new coat of wax. I'll attach a pic of the two in the garage. You'll have to look closely to see the Porsche because it's all covered up above the Caddy. Gotta go. DD, SIL and grandtwins are coming for dinner. Have to make dinner. But first, I have to clean off that horizontal filing cabinet known as the dining room table. LOL Ann |
