The date on the pot was January 2005. I think that is the day the "ear" was potted up to the 2" pot. Because of these dates, I think my plant is about a year to a year and 3 months old. I followed the suggestions on the Violet Barn sight and pinched the center of the crowns. In the Fall of 2005 I did some major trimming to promote new growth because I wanted a large plant. There is a sticky somewhere with pictures showing the trimming. The picture below is the result of the new growth after the trimming and an addition potting up in January 2006 to a 6" Azalia pot. You can see that the runner hang almost to the bottom of the pot. I plan to go to a 7 or 8" pan pot as soon as things slow down a little and I can spend more time with my violets. It blooms continually and it is one of my favorite plants. I love the color of the blooms. |
