Just to the lower right of this pic, you can just barely see where I removed four of the patio stones and sank a large (and very heavy) boulder in the space. I've been planting alpines and succulents there but the squirrels keep eating them. I also had some tansy growing up against the pedestal because I like the lacy foliage, but it's too high, too weedy and gets ratty in August. I'll post another pic where you can see this better.

This year I hope to do something with the wall. I'm the only unit with the stepped effect, a very pleasing feature. My plan is to buy one really good pot for it each year. I also want to try backfilling some of the spaces between the blocks with soil and putting in some cascading alpines. Any ideas?
