mornin_gayle wrote: Good Evening! We left early this morning to drive to Davenport. Dh and Jenna won our local Family Doubles Bowling Tournement last month and today was the Regional Tournement. We all had alot of fun, they bowled well and Jenna remembered to be courtious and wait her turn. This is progress!!! After they finished, we went for lunch. Nathan's 15th Birthday is Wednesday.....soooo....we took him to Hooters! Dh and I had fun teasing him, and the waitresses made a big fuss when I "let it slip" about his birthday. He wanted to kill me, lol. He is such a great kid, and even with his struggles, I NEVER forget that. The waitresses even fussed over Jenna, they kept bringing her balloons. By the time we went to leave she had 14 balloons! They wouldn't all fit in the car so I carefully let the air out of them and I will put them in her scrapbook. The drive home was a nightmare though. Last night we got around 2 inches of new snow, and this morning the roads were mostly ok. As we were finishing lunch we could see it was just strting to flurry a bit. I had checked the forecast before we left and the snow wasn't supposed to start untill after 4pm. We had the waitress switch one of the tv's from football to the weather channel. Boy am I glad we did. We had planned to head to the nice mall and do a bit of Christmas/Birthday shopping, but we packed up and headed home. Dh had enough of a sinus headache that he didn't really want to drive, so I did. I don't mind driving in snow, but I'm not a big fan of fog. It took me 3 hours to go 67 miles. That is just driving time. I'm not counting the time we lost when we stopped 3 times to check on the cars that slid off the road in front of us. I'm really glad we have good tires (a benifit of selling them for so long, lol!) and a cell phone. We did some slipping and some sliding, but stayed on the road. M5~I'm so sorry about Oskar. Sometimes the best way to return the love our babies have given us is to be unselfish, even though it breaks our hearts. My dad's little dog is fading as well, and I will be the one to take her in, dad just can't do it himself. He wants her to not suffer, but he just can't be the one to drive her there. Here is a quick pic of my car just to show you how much more snow has fallen since we got home. You can barely see where Nathan shoveled! I'm betting our total today will be over 6 inches. I'll take some more pics in the morning from across the street and so you can see the front of our house. We are getting a pretty good drift on one side. Stay Warm and dry! mg |
