Good Morning! Cold and cloudy here, Don't care, going out for breakfast. There's leftover pasties on the counter for Sarv if she wants dinner for breakfast again! Paper plates are on the counter, pasties don't require fine china, just ketchup or chili sauce on a paper plate.

Ironing!! I don't think either of my girls have an iron or an ironing board! I hang my tablecloths on double plastic hangers with a paper towel core slipped over the bottom bar, saves a lot of extra work when you want to use them. I put my silver in ziplocks with those little dehydrators too, but then I suck out all the air with the vac before I seal them, because exposure to air is what causes it to tarnish.
Watched Martha Stewart teach a male guest how to iron a shirt..and sat there nodding and murmuring, "That's right, collar and cuffs first, then the sleeves, then the back etc" LOL She shows people all the stuff the GOBs mothers and grandmothers taught us when we were trained to be homemakers. Not that anybody wants to do it all anymore, but it's nice to know how for special occasions.

Woodspirit, did you find a door? When one of our neighbors was having their house built, the builders threw a perfectly good door in the dumpster, apparently having cut it too short or something. Sent DH and his buddy out in the snow to retrieve it, and it's now part of the new garage. I'm not above dumpster diving....! It's got a metal core, and would probably sell for over $100 and they threw it out!

SuzieQ, I have hoof and mouth disease too. I took a lot of backhanded insults and snide comments from DHs family for a number of years without any support from him, I finally decided not to take it. When his mother commented that our sheets and pillow cases were so "loud" she couldn't sleep in them, I shot back with, "So, painting your bedroom grape puke purple didn't keep you awake?" We don't see her these days....which is fine with him.

Gardengeek, I've lived in Wisconsin for most of my life and I don't know what PV is either. Ate a lot of wild game in my childhood, and will pass on almost all of it...unless somebody has an excess of brook trout, which I'd take in a heart beat! Hope you feel better today so you can enjoy your free weekend.

Darius, get some work out of your sister and sneak a peek in once in a while or you'll never catch up. When you get to Molly's, give her our love and a big hug, you two are going to have a great time in her new space! And flip the bird at your goofy landlord for us, while you are at it.

Betsybug, DH sold our '97 Dodge Caravan to my DD, last year, and it has now passed the 200,000 mile mark and is still chugging along. Of course, being a car fanatic, he'd kept it in peak condition with oil changes etc., like all his toys. Your folks will get good service from it.

Brining is wonderful for any kind of fowl. A few years ago, it was just plain kosher salt and water, but now there's all kinds of recipes for different brines, the cider sounds wonderful. However, I hunt my fresh turkeys at the butcher shop armed with my debit card and a shopping cart. No camo for me. Makes me look fat (ter). LOL

Great shopping adventure Sarv! Last January I hit Linens and Things for their year end clearance, and I'm still amazed at what I picked up. Most of it was marked down 70% to 80%. I got decorator pillows big ones for $5, little ones for $2, wreath hangers for 50 cents, a 3 candle centerpiece with a pedestal for $4, all in all I spent about $30 for $200 of merchandise. I'm sure going to check that sale out again in January!!

We saw that Johnny Cash film this week too, and thought it was very good. Just read that the stars did their own singing, which was not the case with "Ray" where it was dubbed. I think "Ray" was a better film overall. The remark made by Cash's dad, after his drug bust, about him not having to "work so hard at making people think he'd been in prison" was pretty funny.

Bal and Ernie, and everyone else, have a happy Sunday.

Help yourselves to the remaining pasties, otherwise they are going in the freezer!
