I got some plants years ago from a friend who collected them from the island of Crete were they are native to. A friend of mine has the white flowering form which was thought not to exist but I have seen photos of it. Their is also another species from the canarie islands named canariensis. It also has a white flower I have a small plant of this finally growing. My hope is to cross the two and see what comes of it. Vulgaris is very hardy here but must be kept dry it grows well with cactus in a rock garden type setting. I finally have a tray of small tubers for next season. Here are some pictures form a few years back of my mother plants |
