I think it got a bad rap form indiscriminating grazing animals that eat everything... it makes them hallucinate and act pretty crazy so a lot of the farmers & ranchers exterminate it from their land here in Texas. You do need to watch small children & of course you pets. I have it & I make sure to rake up leaves etc from the yard where the dogs are. Kinda the same routine with the Angel Trumpets /Brugs.
