Oldseed,
you are up in my neck of the woods
west monroe is off 81 by central square
I live on the north shore of Oneida

and the offer goes to you too
If you want chickens....have I got some birds for you....LOL

Chele
Yes,I have chickens that roost in trees
Even some of my Froo Froo Polish roost up in trees....LOL

I'm thinking you need some peacocks and ducks too......

as for you guys going broody or moody as the case may be...
if ya wanna hatch an egg ya gotta keep your body temp at 99.9 for 21 days.......I'm thinking hot flashes.......just stuff the egg in your cleavage.......and never roll over when you sleep...LOL

as for incubators...
there are plenty of plans around for home made models, but you have to turn the eggs 4 times a day so easy access is a must
I have big expensive ones with automatic turners, but normal people don't need those, see if there are any poultry auctions in your area, you can find used equiptment real cheap there.

In Columbus,Ohio (not sure how far that is from you) anyhow,in the beginning of November there is a HUGE poultry show at the fair grounds. You can find all kinds of chickens for sale there and even some equiptment. Its called the Ohio National
We go to it every few years
You can walk thru the show, pick out the breeds you like,go into the sale building, and see if anyone has stock for sale(Thousands of birds there) ,buy the birds there, and fill the coop!!!!!
If you get breeds that go broody you won't have to put eggs in your cleavage...always a plus.....
