It blooms continually until the first hard freeze. The blooms attract butterflies. It self-seeds very freely. It has a taproot, which if harmed, will kill the plant. Transplant it when the plants are very small in order to nnot damage the taproot. It is a great butterfly attractor and a food source for monarch and queen butterfly catepillars.
