Crestedchik... Well Thanks... weight ... MMMM well it is a roof .. and built a long time ago... with the old regulations... Yes I am somewhat concerned.. it is a bit deceptive... all of the planters / fence on the sides of the roof sit on the bearing walls of the building...solid brick down to thefoundation... the planters/fence that run across the front and back are part of a box beam set up... wit h the inside of the planters being the inside of the box beam... this is a clear span of the 22 feet from one bearing wall to the other.. compleatly off the ground in the air... across the 22 ft.. everything else inside is weight sitting on the roof... guess it is some... but I do try and keep it to the edges of it where there is less force on the joists of the roof.. and try to keep everything smaller than I might .. like the 7' tall elephant ears are in a planter that's 3 1/2" wide... but 5' long... so evrything is growing long... I can't imagine freeing the bulb for wintrer storage with dismanteling the planter .. but it is one wall of the pond also.. I'd started a house like structure ... to come through to get out onto the roof.. but was visited by the building department and had a 6 session hearing on the work there... but I did win out after all with teeh stuff being on the bearing walls mostly... so I halted other building ... which I'd require drawings and engineer and construction by outside parties... [ when I'm a builder ] but perhaps this winter it looks like a temp hoop house or something for storage..
CARLAB thanks alot ok ya'll have won another picture for your gracious comments.. thanks Gordon
