I heard about logs enough on here I had to try it as well. Cut out one big sucker and saved theses 2 sections that both a a couple of node. They laid in the garage for a day or so till the ends were calloused (more because I didn't get around to taking care of them). Then as others as said, just pressed them halfway into the mix. They've set here with just a little dappled sun in the early morning. Didn't take long for a node to sprout and it's never wilted.
