I had several plants at one time that had cupped leaves both upward and downward. Bronzy looking new growth, twisted and gnarled leaves. Just about every bug symptom you can think of. The two Herrenhauser x ? (Larry Locklin) seedlings that I'm so looking forward to were affected really really bad. I dislike chemicals and I just can't get inspired about them. I'll use them only if there is no other choice. Water turned out to be my best defense. The safest and cheapest and most effective. The plants are beautiful and the problem has not returned. I get to enjoy all of the neat little critters that live in my brugs like frogs and lizards and natural beneficials and even a couple of Caterpillars.
I seriously recommend water first and chemicals 2nd.
