Each spring they must of spawned because they each year we ended up with 2 baby comets. By the time I noticed any babies in the pond, they were about 2" long & were a dark grayish color. Since then we've put in our larger 700 gal. pond. Last night I was staring into what I thought was dead parrots head stems in the water. I was reaching in to remove them when I noticed several baby fish in various sizes. Most of them are the dark grayish color but the two largest ones are a white color, one with a black blotch on its belly & the other has a orange blotch on its side. Could these two be Koi babies from the 6" & 8" Koi I bought this spring?? I am really hoping they are cause they will make up for the third Koi I bought & died. My other question is, should I be trying to feed the babies or should I just assume they'll get plenty of food off the green algea thats growing on the sides of the pond? TIA, Gemila |
