My family is the same way, although my husband will stand out on the patio on ocassion and say he likes the lushness of it all and appreciates the total look, and does like to show it off to friends, I cannot gush to him or the kids over anything bloom or plant wise. My daughter even has a daylily named after her and she has yet even shown any enthusiasm to want to see it, told me the other day she doesn't want to see or look at daylilies anymore, guess I over did it and burnt her out. So now I am careful to never say anything daylily to her, just maybe a comment about how nice everything in the garden is looking etc. makes me sad. But I am thankful I still have my Mom, 5 min. away, whom I share all the gushes, joys, failures, nursery shopping trips and enabling I can. It's from her I learned the gardening from, we bought the house from my parents over 20 years ago and I felt obligated to keep up the garden she started, so I soon took off from there. And I share things to my grandkids, 6 & 1 1/2 yrs., in hopes of instilling in them the wonders of flowers and plants and maybe make future gardeners out of them. So they can drive grammy around on nursery expeditions!
