I just take a cutting about a foot long and leave about 3-4 leaves at the very top and place in water. All my others seem to root but this one just doesn't work for some reason. The ones I grew from seeds I sowed inside in the fall and then put them out in the spring and they all have bloomed that year. I have Lord Baltimore, just started to bloom, a maroon that I grew from seeds and a pink that I don't know the name of. I also have 17 that I got in a coop that went bad here on Dave's. One of the ones was the Kopper King but I doubt that what it is. They are budding up ready to bloom so we shall see. I also have a yellow that has smaller blooms and grows into a taller plant. I have the name somewhere but can't remember off hand. Here's a picture of it. It grows taller and not as bushed as the other ones. I also have several swamp mallow that I grew from seeds. Took about three years to see blooms on them. |
