I was given almost 200 rhizomes of an unnamed dark purple bearded iris two years ago. Way more than I expected so I was putting them everywhere I had room! They have turned out to be wonderful: the evergreen swordlike foliage is a great vertical accent, the plants do well in both sun and shade, dry or wet soil, and they bloom several times a year to boot. They look great with anything, but particularly with white calla lilies.
