I do keep the larger leaves stripped off of it because of wind damage and to strengthen the plant trunks of which there are two. It gets some early morning sun, then dappled shade until about 4pm when it gets some afternoon sun. It is also subjected to our strong winds on most days.

I'm sure a gift of an entire plant to a gardening friend would be welcomed and no reason the plant could not be resold to someone, but you might want to read up on plant patent laws before sending cuttings to gardening friends. Here's just one thread on DG that addresses that subject:
