Everything was growing great, then in a matter of days this happened to the Arturo. I saw a little area at the base that looked discolored, and thought it was normal until it started to spread up the plant. In case there was a chance of saving part of it, I cut off the new arm growth and cut the green top from the main plant, and planted them both. I left this part just to see what happened and the discoloring quickly took all of it.

When cutting the top off, the center "spine" was almost hard as a rock all the way to the top. Even when the entire plant was still all green, the center spine (looking down at it from the top) was greyish. I don't know if that means that the green top cutting has no hope either, or even if the arm has a chance. The dark area was never mushy and the soil not sour. Do you think I just over watered it and caused a fungus or something, or could the heat have caused it even with normal watering?
