I expanded my center bed by 2.5'. Flipped it to 16", removed sod then tilled in 3 bags of MG potting soil with moisture control and a couple of pounds of alfalfa meal. Other than the top 2 or 3" of topsoil put down when the house was built in '94 the rest was back fill.

This is on the north side of the center bed so the Autumn Damask (red rose just starting to bloom) and the windmill smothered by clematis will provide a little shade in the heat.

I stuck Zephrine Drouhin roses on each end, 3 of the Adora x palepink crosses from brugaddict, Snowbank (short variegated one) and Maya. The 2nd Maya will get holes drilled in the pot and planted in a different location this weekend.
