frostweed wrote: Here is a lovely yellow annual, Texas Yellow Star, ( Lindheimera texana ) of the Sunflower family. Growing up to 20 inches it is not a tall plant as Sunflowers go and it is really adorable. It was named after Ferdinand Lindheimer, a German-born botanist who settled in New Braunfels,Tx, I guess that is why we have so many plants named Lindheimer this, and Lindheimer that. He was a very busy man. Photo taken at the wildflower center. |
