Here is the picture of our salvia planted in the ground. We went ahead and used the red since that's what I had. The rose bush usually covers with blooms in springtime, and loses all flowers almost as quickly. So most of the time it will just be a green background for my red salvia. I just loved that pop of red in front of the house. DH put the brick border around the whole thing, while I swept and cleaned up all the walkways and porch. We really do work well together.
