Sally_Denver wrote: Hello. Yesterday I had a gravel berm with 3 kinds of minature iris and 5 kinds of crocus in bloom. Today there is not a single flower. No shreds left around and they were definitely chewed off, so I think it was my squirrel, not birds. I live in the city in Denver, and do not have any critters other than squirrels, birds (and cats, dogs and children). I have never had any bulbs dug up and eaten, that I know of, and this is the first time these flowers have been eaten! Early pansies are ignored. I am hoping someone has a repellent formula that I can spray on the delicate flowers to give the culprit a *mouthful* of ugh! My second choice would be something to spray on the gravel mulch itself (and groundcover foliage) to repel him. I do have alliums planted all over this gravel berm, but apparently not enough (or it is too early). Thanks for any help! Ah! I just looked out the window, and there was my (fat!) squirrel nosing around the crocus foliage! I've got to stop him! |
