In fact, the first 3 weeks of January were among the driest ever. All that came to an end last Saturday. Since then we have broken 4 records, 2 for snow, 2 for rain. In the past 8 days we have had:115 cm snow, 90 mm rain and 17 mm sleet. It was only 2 C with the rain so it did nothing to melt the snow, only turn it to ice. I've never seen the roads so terrible here, even in 2001 when we had over 600 cm of snow for the winter. Looks like another late spring for us (what else is new!). By the way, the fence in the back of the garden is 4 feet high.
