A 'corte madera cottage garden' sounds like a neat project...gardeners can grow so many wonderful plants in Marin--it must be heaven to have a garden there. We used to live in 'SF' (in the 70's--grew fushias only there--so much fog), and would drive up to Marin for garden tours and sunshine as much as possible. Reminds me of Sunset Magazine. And the sunshine in the East Bay is so fabulous and plentiful...we lived in Walnut Creek for one year and had a lovely little 'suburban' cottage with lots of roses and camelias. Fun. Always drove out to Wente Vineyards then...(they were a tiny operation) and to the Rose Garden at Cal. Later we moved to Pasadena where there are some Very Serious Gardens to admire/visit.... have been working on our Cincinnati yard for only a year or so and am just getting some results (both good and bad!). will be interested to see if the bulbs come up-- planted a zillion it seems...didn't finish til last week! jkom and moonglow--Puhleez don't forget to post some progress pics! Thanks. t. p.s. this is a 'Before' pic of our little shade-y garden--this fall we planted daffs, muscari, allium among a few hostas, ferns, coral bells and iris sibirica...hope we see some results come April! |
