8 ft, I have some mimosa tree seeds. I just am not sure I want ot plant any, as they put up runners everywhere. I am not one ot mow often, and don't have time for digging. So I will just pretend the Mesquite are as pretty, since they are in the smae family. One day I will change my mind, since when I was growing up, my Granny had a mimosa. One day when I have more time, or a hubby who likes to mow...

oceangirl, I am always saying there is a "method to my madness", but most poeple just think I am either eccentric or lazy or just plain crazy. My garden certainly doesn' tlook cleaned up. I am using the no-till method, and I don't plant in long rows, so my garden just doesn't have that "neat look" to it. Kinda messy, esp since I like to let weeds grow till I know what they are, and then I may still let them grow if they aren't disturbing anything. My friends just say "yeck".

NC, I taught Jake that when I first got him, he was three (he's ten now). If I recall, he would growl if someone walked by the apt door. So I would say "be nice". I just kept saying that until it became the cue word. Then I would say it and he would growl regardless of the stiuation, and of course he would get lots of praise. Then if someone knocked at the door, he would run to bark. So I would point and say "go get em". Then that became his cue, and he would do it regardless. Later when I learned I was pregnant, I taught him a lot more cues, including "watch him", and "where's the baby" and "move'. Since he liked to be underfoot, I thought he sould learn to move out of the way if I was carrying a baby. My friend who was a dog trainer loved it. I could do a sit-stay, then come, then sit then move. She thought it was hilarious,a nd Jake loved all the attention. Basically, if you want o teach your dog a command, just give the cue after he does what you want, if they are willing to learn they will catch on. I am not a dog trainer, but since that is how you train horses, I just applied it and it worked!!! Here is a picture of Jake talking with the boys...such a good dog...
