This time of year, it's not uncommon for some of the branch to die back. I have a cutting like yours Donna, that was a Y, but one side died back, so it looks similar to yours.

equal leaf: both sides of the leaf start at the same place.
unequal leaf: one side of the leaf starts before the other, as much as 1-2" on some of mine.
