boojum wrote: hi kniphofia. I have a hippeastrum cybister that looks identical to this but Veronica Read identified it as 'Merengue' not 'La Paz.' I think you may have 'Merengue.' What do you think? Here is her website for cybister 'Merengue': http://www.veronicareadhippeastrum.com/ Here is 'La Paz': http://www.easytogrowbulbs.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD... (very light bottom petals) Here is V. Read's e-mail to me: I can confirm the picture that you attached is definitely 'Merengue' - I have grown it for several years and will be mounting a major exhibit of it at the RHS Westminster Show in February 2005. It is one of the late Fred Meyer hybrids. You can find full details about it and a large picture in my book: Hippeastrum - the gardener's amaryllis published by Timber Press (March 2004). The book is available in the USA. 'Merengue' is one of the finest Meyer cybister hybrids - often 6 flowers per stem and 3 stems from 30-32cm bulbs. I am selling top class bulbs of 'Merengue' this autumn together with lots of other Cybisters and trumpets. Here are the images I sent her. |
