Beginner Gardening: Awkward planting area, need ideas, 1 by SoCal

I just went out and took a picture of this problem area. We have had a lot of rain for the past 2 days, so you can see what it looks like when really wet. You also can see 2 little green tops of my drainage system in this area.
You will also notice that this is my trash can storage area, so ignore the trash. lol
