All of my butternut squash plants have the same problem. The squash on the end of the female flowers turn from green to yellow and the flowers NEVER OPEN - they die before maturing and fall off!! Sometimes the squash is only 1/2 inch long before turning yellow and dying. The male flowers are fine, blooming as normal, and every other squash plant (including a baby butternut) is fine. What could be causing this? I have searched the internet and found nothing. I have grown butternut for years and never seen this.
