Buffalo is a commercial Green House type that gets with the program. best grown with two or three leaders reguardless of what the experts say at least in the pnw and my sandy loam soil. I grow it under a hoop house and don't know how well it will perform outside but given the heat lots of folks have I think ok because I never covered mine untill three weeks ago and they were well set by then. But we had 60 days of sun many days of 80 or better temp and no rain. I see Buffalo seed in very few seed catalogs because they are about .20 each which is expensive next to 30 seeds for $2.00 Buffalo ripens at 70 days after transplanting. I have been growing this for five years and it is the mainstay for the 15 20 other types I grow.

Some say to help ripen at this stage of the season grab the plant close to the ground pull up untill tight and rotate a quarter of a turn to break some roots causing the plant to think it is dying throwing it into high to ripen it's fruit. My dad used a big knife to cut the roots I tried it once and to tell the truth noticed no difference.

Dianne my friend which toms will you grow in the hoop next year I probably have seed for you if you want especially if you aren't hung up on heirlooms oh I have some of those to but if you want instant sucess you just need to let me send you some seed. Ernie
