Beginner Gardening: Level of sun next to railing, 1 by DCNovice

Obviously the answer will depend a lot on how tall the plant is. Suppose that we are talking about a plant that is short enough (and close enough to the railing) that it is in the partial shadow cast by the railing for nearly the entire day.
