Insect and Spider Identification: Unusual Insect I.D. (AUS), 1 by Entomologylover

I was out hanging the washing the other day when I discovered the remains of these unusual and large pincered insects on the concrete and nearly stepped on them. They slightly unnerved me as I haven\'t seen anything like them before, and although I love insects, the big pincers took me aback.
I have baby kookaburras that have newly fledged and I think that the parents possibly could have fed the rest of these insects to them as they have been collecting a menagerie of scaled, winged and furry critters from my and surrounding yards.
Anyway, I was wondering what sort of insect it was and/ or any information on them or their species.
