GSRapunzel wrote: Hi all, I love my flowers, I am kind of a dig a hole plant it gardener, let hubby water. We bought a new home two years ago and I missed all my flowers from our home of 29 years. We set about bringing in soil, soil conditioners, and hubby tilled up flower beds for me. My problem is the shady garden, it is set under several trees. I planted azaleas, elephant ears, caladiums, hostas, and impatiens. Last year we were very rain deprived, this year we have had some real gully washers. We have found the last owner put in drains under the driveway directing all the rain from one side of the house to the far side and it pours out along with the water from the downspouts from that side and floods the garden. I really don\'t see a way to send the water any where else without flooding our neighbors yard. A river birch is growing in the drain opening area. Do you think I can replant any thing and get it to a size that it will overcome occasional floods? |
