I was digging in the compost pile near the bottom edge into the soil. I dug up a couple of these grubs. I then found one, it looked strange! It appeared to have, what I thought was an earth worm (dark worm) attached to it. I saw some white stuff and slime on the grub. I thought I nicked it with the shovel.

I set it aside on the ground while I went to get some water to rinse it because it was covered with soil. Upon dropping the water on it, the worm thing seemed to fall off, but was more gelatinous..... it no longer looked like a worm and fell off. Looking closer I see what looked like white eggs. I then thought maybe it was parasitized by a nematode, but it was big... I could be wrong! Well the picture doesn\'t show the protruding worm like thing, but you can see what look like eggs...

Image one has the eggs
Image two is one of the other grubs

Are they beetle eggs that happened to get mixed up, and landed on the grub, or is it parasitized with eggs?

Any ideas on what is going on here?
