Okay, I seem to have *2* wasp nests in the yard now. One is a small papery nest attached to the eaves, very high up. The other is the nest that's been created in the hollow crossbar of my old clothesline. With that one, I can tell that the wasps inside have light colored faces, as I can see the whitish triangular points looking out at me from the dark inside the pole. (I know, an unsettling image--LOL).

So, picture 1 is what I think is one of the light-faced wasps from the clothespole nest. Picture 2 is a wasp on the fennel within swooping distance of the papery nest. For all I know, these are the same species of wasp--LOL--but was hoping I could get more information.
