Gitagal wrote: I have a box of 78's. Never listen to them any more---they are mostly "romantic" (to me--in those days) music as well as lot of German songs. They are cracking and breaking if I were to handle them. I still have (I think) the little 78 record player my children used. Only thing I could still play 78--or 45's on. SOOO scrathchy!! I had a pile of 45's too. Mathew (my DD SO) took them all a couple of years ago. He is into all this old music. I also still have my old Walnut console record player from the 50's. A nice piece of furniture--- sitting all mildewed in the corner of my shop. Inside--all the tubes are mildewed as well. I still remember that I paid $157 for it. My special, weird talent. I remember what all kind of things cost when I bought them.... Have to see if Mathew may want to have it to "play" at refurbishing it. off topic....**************************** please forgive me..... My daughter, Benita, who has lived in Seattle for years, is driving cross country with her huge dog, Dublin, and 2 cats. Her SO, Mathew, got a job in Rockville so they are re-locating. He already drove across the US almost a month ago to start his new job. They are renting a small home with a yard. I am sooo happy, they will be only an hour's drive from me. !!! YEAHHH! We will be able to get together now and then. Benita should be half way across the country by now. She left Seattle on Saturday. I expect she should arrive in Rockville sometime this weekend. She refurbished and spiffed up her house in Seattle which is now on the market. Re-tiled the bathrooms, painter...repaired...etc...Gotta hand it to her for determination. AND--I can only admire her "guts". Driving cross-country with 3 animals is no small feat. Stopping at Motels that accept pets along the way. Not sure IF all their belongings have arrived yet...Unpacking will be a huge chore. I will breathe easier when I know she has arrived safe and sound....and exhausted, I am sure... Just wanted to share this with all of you. Thanks. Gita Pic--their visit here i May, 2013 |
