So I'm finally back with a few pictures - I'm still waiting for the grey nil, it neither liked the cold start of this summer, nor the dry and hot (40 °C ?!?!) second half, nor the hailstorm. I admit I still don't get how those little icy bullets aim well enough to behead most of the vines of it.

but there are others to compensate: Pic one is a voluntary I.Purpurea - rather basic for your standards, but rather vigorous, and the flowers are rather big for a purp. 2 and 3, I.Lobata and I. Slooteri, have a hard time fighting a very vigorous, yet small flowered I.Hederifolia Lutea on the same trellis. 4 and 5 add some non-ipomoea, yet still short lived tubular flowers: my beloved broken colors Mirabilis Jalapa (I've added another, white-yellow broken one to my collection this year, might share those later on) and my first female pumpkin flower this year - after about 100 males.

all in all I've learned not to start ipomoeas too early, as the most vigorous are the voluntaries that germinated in may. all my mid-february indoors struggle ever since transferred to the garden.
