Beginner Gardening: Ficus alii dead? What should I do?, 1 by calvinkrause

I have a pot with 3 Ficus Alii in it, which I bought about 6 months ago. One of the plants began shedding its leaves maybe 2 months ago and is now almost completely dried up. I hope you can see the discoloration in the picture. The other plants are very healthy.

Can I just cut off the plant at the bottom (and maybe even hope for new growth?) or should I try and remove it from the pot completely and replace the soil? I'm worried because one plant is still rather small...
