Beginner Gardening: Haworthia fasciata, 1 by Midi

Does it have any possibility to survive and do new roots? Do I need to keep it dry some day, maybe week or what? Now it is on water.

In the picture both plants are on their own pots and healthy, but now the baby is on water and mother had one leaf removed by the same reason. I have not removed the mother from it's pot yet. I try to get the soil dry (it is not so wet anymore).
