I was surprised to find no results for Amorphophallus. The famous one, A. titan, are in cultivation in under a hundred examples all over the world, and get gigantic.
Our is an edible plant, both young stems and the root. Apparently I missed one last year and we have been rewarded with a really weird flower, which must have been fertile for one night only, now two days later, the male flowers (on top in the pictures) are falling. During blooming, a smell of rotting fish attracted our attention as well as that of many insects and the dog. The initial flower may be said to resemble a sitting Buddha I suppose, my wife was advised to make a food offering and burn joss sticks. Cultivation is really easy and the plant will survive being flooded.
Kabuk in Thai.
