I often see a pair in the forest, but I rarely see them in my yard. This one is pecking away at a Silver Maple that used to be in my back yard. I was so excited to see it that I bought a suet feeder with an extra long tail prop area in the hope it would return. It did eat from it a few times, but I haven't seen it on the feeder in over a year. There are lots of rotten trees and logs in the forest, so maybe it's got plenty of food. |
